Technology & Business Education
for Youth

Paul Stewart Consulting has developed the Real World Technology after school program, to provide students with applied learning opportunities to utilize computer technology in real-world scenarios. Goals for student participants include improving academic performance, acquiring proficiency in a variety of software applications and associated computer tools, learning communication skills for teamwork and cooperation, learning practical uses for computer technology, and learning about future career opportunities in a global information age.

The Internet Commerce and Web Development class objectives are for students to learn and/or acquire proficiency in the following: 1) business and web development software, including Microsoft Word, Powerpoint and Excel; Macromedia Dreamweaver and Fireworks; 2) Internet search engines and their use in business marketing; 3) various career roles within business organizations; 4) international business on the Internet, 5) and communicating with compassion and respect to improve teamwork, cooperation, and individual contributions.

These objectives are met in a real-world scenario as students take on the roles of several business careers, including CEO and management support, marketing professionals, and web developers. As teams, the students will prepare business documents and marketing materials utilizing software and digital tools. They will produce organization charts, spreadsheets, business letters, financial statements, marketing materials, and a website.

Real World Technology has been taught at Aki Kurose Middle School Academy and South Lake Shore High Schools in Seattle, and is available for implementation in Lewis County schools and youth organizations as well.

As the Executive Director and co-founder of the East Lewis County Chamber of Commerce, Stewart has partnered with Lewis County's ESD 113, Educational Service District Youth Programs Department, to train a Mossyrock High School student inadministrative skills, project management, customer service, web development and Internet protocol.

Stewart also participated in the Centralia High School Business week program as a Business Advisor to 15 students for one week (2006) as part of the state's Washington Business Week Program.

Paul Stewart Consulting also offers individual technology tutoring and training for both youth and adults for an hourly fee.
